Who we are
CostaVista was founded on a background in property law and the Dutch estate-agency profession. This means we understand both the legal side of a property transaction and the day-to-day practice of buying and selling. We use that combination to take buyers from the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany and the United Kingdom through a Spanish purchase process that differs in many respects from what they are used to.
We are on the Costa del Sol several times a year and work there with a fixed team of local partners for the purchase and the financing. These partners know the market area by area and are available on the ground when you are not.
One point of contact in your language
When buying in Spain you deal with sellers, a notary, a lawyer, a bank and often a gestor or property manager as well. We keep all those parties connected, so you do not have to coordinate them yourself. You communicate with us in Dutch, English, German or Spanish, and you always know who is doing what and what the next step is.
Who we work for
We guide private individuals looking for a home for their own use, buyers who want to combine their own use with letting, and investors whose main focus is return. It makes no difference whether you are just starting to explore or already have a property in mind. If you live abroad and cannot be present at every step, we adapt the way we work accordingly; see also buying remotely.
How we work
- Introduction. In a first conversation we map out your wishes: budget, intended use, letting plans, preferred areas and timescale.
- Selection. On that basis we put together a selection of properties and areas that suit you, with an explanation of the pros and cons.
- Viewings. You view the properties together with our local partners. We plan this so that you get a clear picture within a few days.
- Checks and financing. An independent Spanish lawyer checks the legal position of the property, including by means of the nota simple (the extract from the land registry). Where needed, our financing partner arranges the mortgage.
- Notary and aftercare. We stay with you up to the signing at the notary and the handover of the keys. Afterwards, our partners can take care of letting and management.
You can read more about each step in the buying process.
Our fee
In certain cases we receive a fee from, for example, a project developer. In other cases we provide a separate service and charge you a fee. We always discuss in advance how our fee is structured.
What we do not do
- No legal or tax advice. We do not provide this ourselves. Instead we work with independent specialists, such as a Spanish lawyer and a tax adviser, who act in your interest.
- We are not the seller. CostaVista does not sell properties of its own. We are on your side and help you make a well-considered choice.
